Do Not Buy Living with Glocks if You are Expecting Any of the Following:
1) It is not a “How-To” book showing you detailed maintenance and modification of your Glock pistol. We’ve written another book for that purpose: How to Customize Your Glock
2) It is not an in-depth History of Glocks and all the no-talent thieves who copied Glock’s revolutionary design over the years because Glock has proven so reliable, indestructible and safe.
3) It is not a sugar-coated fairy tale about how your grandmother’s unloaded revolver under her pillow is going to magically save her life when thugs break down her door.
What the hell is it then?
The Second Amendment is not about duck hunting, and Glock pistols are not about Sunday afternoon plinking or gentlemanly target shooting. These guns are built to save lives, many lives, lives under attack by powerful forces driven by the will to kill.

Living with Glocks
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Morgan Boatman, I’m the son of Robert Boatman. In 2002, Paladin Press published my father’s book, Living with Glocks. The book immediately became a best seller for Paladin and both initiated the popular “Living with…” series, and ignited a firestorm of controversy about what a “gun book” should really be.
A New Kind of Gun Book for a New Kind of Gun
There are plenty of books about owning and operating and caring for firearms. These are like the book you picked out for your son’s first garter snake. The truth is that when you buy a gun, you not only possess it, you Live with it. That is the guiding principle behind all the “Living with…” books. Choosing to bring a lethal weapon into your life should not be taken lightly. At the same time, it should be something that everyone who takes responsibility for their actions is willing and able to do.
In Living with Glocks, my father takes the reader through every step from the first notion of acceptance into competition and training through using a Glock professionally to finally realizing his greater social obligation to carry a Glock daily. It is an introspective examination of what guns mean to us, how to live with deadly weapons in a society that denies their significance, a culture that vilifies them and a mass consciousness that is horrified of them. It’s the pet book for people who breed lions.
He Takes the Hard Line on the Tough Questions
Are you wondering what the real role of the personal firearm is in modern society?
Are you looking for an introduction to what it really means to be a member of the “gun culture?”
Are you curious what the real stories and innovations behind the infamous Glock pistol are?
Are you trying to figure out how to convince your anti-gun friends that you are not a paranoid nutcase?
In Living with Glocks, readers follow one man’s journey from despising the new-fangled plastic pistols to being the foremost advocate of Austrian polymer. His hard-hitting literary style reveals the timeless struggles of the men and women who accept responsibility for their actions instead of rolling over and slipping into victimization. The United States was designed and forged by men and women who took their fate into their own hands. That necessity still exists. Who do you think is going to stop atrocities like Virginia Tech? Who will foil the next terrorist plot? Who is going to protect you and your loved ones from a Killeen Massacre type incident?
YOU! and only You!

It’s Not a Book for Everyone
Living with Glocks was written for those who realize that each man and woman’s Glock is the thin black line between responsibility and victimization, between liberty and totalitarianism, between paradise and terrorism.
It’s not for the collector. It’s not for the duck hunter. It’s not for anyone who’s afraid to carry “one in the chamber,” literally or figuratively. It is not for those who are happy suckling at the teat of the Nanny State. It is not for those who would rather get raped than kill a human being. It is not for those who wander the world in a daze hoping that the police will suddenly materialize beside them with guns drawn when a criminal begins beating them to a bloody pulp.
Living with Glocks is for those for which the mindset of being armed is a way of life. It’s for the firearm martial artist, the Glock warrior.

It May Be The Most Controversial
Gun Book Ever Published.
Some are offended by my father's no-holds-bared style. He tells it like it is, according to him. He’s got some hard-line opinions and some insightful observations to share. My father’s book has been described as many things both erudite and vile. What it certainly is not is the Reader’s Digest guide to Glock ownership.
Living with Glocks was published in 2002, so, yeah there are some Glock models missing and some changes in the political landscape, but the essential observations remain as fresh as an open wound. It’s not the gun book for everyone. It is the gun book for staunch defenders of liberty. It’s the gun book for every real American in the post-9/11 world. It’s for the men and women of the world who know that an armed society is a polite society.
Living with Glocks will force you to think about and come to terms with what it really means to actually live with your deadly weapon, rather than just possess it.
Thank you,
Morgan
Juan Carlos Hidalgo, a friend of mine who works for the Libertarian Party of Costa Rica, reports a few points about Costa Rican gun rights: “All automatic and semiautomatic guns are banned. For other guns, a license and registration is required. Licensing is nondiscretionary, which means that if a license is asked for, it must be given unless the state proves that the individual has a criminal or mental record or is otherwise legally prohibited from owning and carrying a gun. The license must be renewed every two years. In order to obtain a license, the individual must submit to the authorities a psychiatric examination and legal documentation proving that the gun is his, plus attend a weeklong theoretical and practical training class. If an individual is caught carrying a gun without a license, he faces a six-month to three-year prison term. The state maintains a national registry of who has guns and what sort of guns they have. If an individual is caught owning an unregistered gun, he faces three months of community work.”

Chapter 11, Living with Glocks
For those of us who consider gun laws in the US to be oppressive, read Chapter 11 and be glad you are fighting every day to keep America free:
You need a holster. In fact, you need a whole box full of holsters, because finding the perfect gun/holster combination is like finding the perfect gun itself, which is like finding the perfect woman -- they’re all meant to be lifelong pursuits, never quite fulfilled. As in all journeys toward idealized destinations, getting there is all the fun.

Chapter 9, Living with Glocks
Wondering what holster to get for your Glock? Most shooters know that living with guns is also living with holsters. Of course my father can’t make the decision for you, but he can make sure you know how to make an informed selection:
Competing with your Glock is not the same as training with your Glock. Even if you live for competition, you can die from lack of training. And the best training is of little use if you leave it at the range and don’t take it home with you to integrate into your every waking moment.

Chapter 3, Living with Glocks
More than a few Weekend Warriors would do well to heed the wisdom in Chapter Three:
I kept my first Glock a secret from my closest friends. It was an illicit love affair, as I had practically sworn my faithfulness to the M1911 and felt compelled to conceal my perverted but irresistible temptation to embrace the exotic lightweight polymer, the mind-boggling reliability, the simple reassurance under stress, and the thoroughly unconventional beauty of this new Austrian siren.
